AVID

AVID's mission is to close the opportunity gap by preparing all students for college and career readiness and success in a global society.

AVID (Advancement Via Individual Determination) is a proven, in-school college readiness elective that prepares students in grades 6-12 for college and career readiness. Students interested in AVID must apply, be interviewed, and be accepted into the class. AVID provides students with a comprehensive curriculum grounded in writing, inquiry, collaboration, organization, and reading. In addition, AVID students participate in collaborative group tutoring, college campus visits, and career exploration opportunities. Students enrolled in AVID demonstrate higher school attendance rates, increased enrollment in rigorous coursework, higher high school graduation rates, and acceptance to and enrollment in post-secondary opportunities.
