Students will extend their school-year learning through active, fun and hands-on experiences. The program includes activities in math, coding, reading, physical education, economics, health, art, and music, and studies about Minnesota plants and animals. Small-group literacy instruction, community partnerships that provide enrichment opportunities, and field trips support discovery of new talents, skills and interests.

French, Hmong, Mandarin Chinese and Spanish

Students currently enrolled in SPPS language immersion or dual-language programs qualify to attend. Students receive instruction in both English and the language taught at their school, along with cultural studies and summer-themed activities.

This program partners with the SPPS Department of Indian Education and the Interfaith Action of Greater Saint Paul's Department of Indian Work to immerse students in Native American history, heritage, arts and language. Participants learn from Indigenous teachers and leaders. Included in this program are culturally specific enriching field trips, guest speakers, healthy eating, lacrosse, arts and crafts, daily smudging and indigenous games. The program also partners with reading tutors to offer free additional support. Students will gain a deep appreciation for their heritage and pride in their culture, which has a strong connection to success in academics. Open to all students with an interest in Native American culture.

Arts Us Camp Teranga is a 5-week summer camp that teaches young artists about the art, cultures and sciences of the African Diaspora. Through workshops with professional artists, experiential learning activities and youth service leadership projects, students will grow their own healthy identities through an Afrocentric lens. Workshops include drumming, storytelling, STEM, gardening, nutrition and dance. Transportation is limited to Areas E and F1.
